Setting a Romantic Mood

Whether you are in a new relationship or have been with the same partner for while, romance is king. Surprising your beloved with romantic gestures and surprises is the number one way to spice up your relationship and maintain love in your current situation. Despite this, not many couples take the time to consistently surprise their lovers romantically. This is unfortunate, considering that you need very little in order to create a romantic mood. Consider these romantic surprises that are sure to set the mood you desire:

1) Create an indoor picnic for your lover. Set out a checkered tablecloth on your living room floor. If it is a nice day outside, consider taking your picnic outside into the yard, or onto the deck or patio. On the tablecloth, carefully arrange snacks — and these can be as simple as sandwiches — glasses of wine, lighted candles, and flower petals. Ask your lover to close his or her eyes, take them by the hand, and gently leads them to your beautiful picnic.

2) Surprise your loved one with a special gift. Buy a loved one that gift they have been wanting — whether it is an MP3 player or that new CD. However, make the opening of the gift a luxury in itself. Light some candles. Place the wrapped gift among all the candles. Put on some romantic music and lower the lights. Have your loved one slowly open the gift and guess what it is.

3) A romantic bath for two. Tidy up the bathroom and pour a luxurious bath, using bath oils, foam bath, or bath salts. Lights lots of small candles around the bathtub, and put on soothing music. Step into the bath together and spend some time washing each other’s backs.

4) Try a massage. Turn out the lights in the bedroom, and put a clean sheet on the bed. Have your partner lie down while you gently massage and knead tired muscles, feet, and arms. 5) Serve a meal in bed. While it is traditional to serve breakfast in bed, serving almost any meal in bed is sure to be a special treat. On a tray, arrange some tasty items of food. Light a candle and place some flowers on the tray. Gently place the tray on your beloved’s lap and watch for his or her look of surprise.

6) Hold hands. Just spending time with your partner is often enough to rekindle romance. Put on some soothing music, turn off lights, light some candles and spend some time just sitting on the couch together. Talk about dreams, the past, and about hopes and desires.
